The Manito Parent Cooperative preschool is a place for parents and children to learn and grow together in a safe, secure and developmentally appropriate environment. A Place where children will explore and discover, imagine and create, talk and pretend, dance and sing.
As a parent education program affiliated with Community Colleges of Spokane, parents learn about child development through classroom discussions and seminars, and are given tools for more effective child rearing.
MANITO CO-OP PARENTS MAKE THE DIFFERENCE
Parents are an integral part of the Manito co-op program and have a significant opportunity to learn and grow with their children. Parents work as a team with a program facilitator (teacher) to provide stimulating learning experiences and fulfill all the needs of the co-op. Commitment to the program includes active involvement in the following areas:
- Parent participation in the classroom activities once a week
- Participation in business meetings (parent education, program content decisions, seminar topic selection)
- Attendance at parent education seminars
- Acceptance of responsibility for various tasks involved in running the program (small and large tasks jobs available)
Parents are a support group for each other, sharing experiences, frustrations, solutions and successes. |
